ELECTION RESULTSVTSCA is pleased to announce Justin Pinard and Kaitlin Letourneau were elected by our membership to serve a three-year term on our Board of Directors. They will take office immediately. Congratulations, Justin and Katilin! |
JUSTIN PINARDCenter for Technology, Essex EWSD My main reason for running for the Board of Directors again is the same reason I'm in this profession - to support our youth. VTSCA is doing amazing work right now and has been steadily growing its sphere of influence in the past few years. Being a part of their small, yet powerful team is not only rewarding, but also inspiring. I enjoy giving back to my community and those around me. VTSCA allows for that to happen on local and state-wide level. Having had the privilege of being the Public Relations Chair has really increased my understanding and awareness of how important community partnerships, networking, and connecting people across the state is to our profession as a whole. Being part of the VTSCA means supporting our amazing school counselors, celebrating successes, serving our students, and putting in some extra time to work toward change on a variety of scales. Lastly, my passion of working toward equitable, holistic, and safer school climates aligns with VTSCA's mission. It's been a natural fit from the start and I hope to continue getting the opportunity to serve our school counselors and students, while making changes for the better! Brief Bio I am in my ninth year of education and currently work as a School Counselor/Outreach Coordinator at the Center for Technology, Essex. I have a Master’s of Science degree in counseling and a certification in holistic restorative education. I have worked at both the middle and high school levels in several districts across the state (i.e., FNESU, FWSU, SBSD, and EWSD). I have gained valuable experience and knowledge from working in these different areas of Vermont that help to bring a more eclectic perspective when sitting on the VTSCA board. In addition to my school counseling hat, I am also passionate about restorative practices as well as finding ways to create safer, equitable, and inclusive learning environments for our students. I have had the honor of co-advising several support/leadership groups (e.g., GSA's, equity teams, mentor programs, etc.) and have been volunteering on restorative panels through the Essex Community Justice Center for over six years. This work is very important to me and I enjoy sharing my learning with those around me. When I'm not working, I enjoy being outside, being active, and spending time with friends/family. You could catch me playing soccer, golf, tennis, roller blading, and many other activities! I was born and raised in Vermont, so having the opportunity to give back to my own community is very meaningful to me! |
KAITLIN LETOURNEAU
Alburgh Community Education Center Grand Isle Supervisory Union I ran for the Board of Directors for the Vermont School Counselor Association because I believe in the transformative power of school counseling and want to contribute to the continued growth and advocacy of our profession. As a school counselor, I’ve witnessed firsthand the impact we have on students’ academic success, emotional well-being, and long-term development. I want to ensure that counselors across the country are equipped, supported, and empowered to meet these needs. Serving on the board is an opportunity to bring a diverse perspective, collaborate with fellow leaders, and help shape policies that reflect the evolving challenges in education. I am particularly passionate about equity in school counseling, promoting culturally responsive practices, and expanding access to mental health resources for all students. I also aim to support professional development opportunities that help counselors stay at the forefront of best practices. Now, I hope to give back by helping guide the organization’s mission, advocate for our role in education, and uplift the voices of school counselors across all settings. Brief Bio My name is Katie Letourneau and I am a School Counselor for the Grand Isle Supervisory in Alburgh. I am in my third year as a School Counselor and 17th year overall in education. I have a passion for working with children and collaborating with colleagues. |
